| OUR
GOALS
Goal #1 Call
for communities across WI to work to place impeachment and/or BOTH
resolutions on the ballot so citizens can speak out at the ballot
box on these critical issues before our nation.
Implementation: The Coalition will encourage
activists in WI cities
and villages to use the direct legislation process to collect citizen
signatures to place impeachment and or bring the troops home
resolutions on the November 2006 or April 2207 ballots.
Note: The intent is to provide volunteers to
assist local communities
in the collection of their target number of signatures by calling
on
co-sponsoring organizations to provide those volunteers as able.
This will enable local communities to more more quickly get their
resolution(s) on their local ballot than they can do alone.
Organization: The Direct Legislation Committee
will be organized and responsible for working to achievement of
this goal.
Note: At the county level, for some counties
there may be a local
coordinator(s) to help local communities get what they need to collect
signatures, work with the bureaucracy, think through a get out the
vote drive, etc. This of course would only be done in those counties
where a person volunteers to play this role.
Note: At the municipal level (city & village)
the local activists are
in charge of organizing their own effort as they see fit with possibly
co-coordinators and steering committee.
Goal #2 Call
upon the Dane County Board of Supervisors and other
county boards to place impeachment and BOTH resolutions before the
voters on the county-wide November 2006 ballot or April 2007 ballot.
Implementation: The Coalition will work with
the Democratic Party,
Progressive Dane and the Green Party to encourage supervisors to
consider proposing and passing such resolutions on the November
2006 or April 2007 county ballots.
Organization: The County Level Resolution Committee
will be organized and responsible for working to achieve this goal.
Goal #3 Call
upon the WI Congressional delegation to become leaders in calling
for and voting for the initiation of impeachment
investigations in the United States House of Representatives against
President George W. Bush, Vice President Richard Cheney, Secretary
of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
Implementation: The Coalition will work with
local activists and
co-sponsoring organizations to collect citizens signatures on petitions
calling for the WI Congressional delegation to take action in Congress
on impeachment. In the summer or early fall of 2006 the Coalition
and Co-Sponsoring organizations will formally present the petitions
to each WI Congressional member along with a call for action.
Note: Veterans For Peace and activists have already
collected 500 or more WI impeachment petition signatures. Over 700,000
people
nationwide have signed an electronic impeachment petition at
VoteToImpeach.org
Organization: The Statewide Impeachment Petition
Drive Committee will be organized and responsible for working to
achieve this goal.
Goal #4 Call
upon the WI State Assembly and Senate to pass a joint resolution
requesting the U.S. House of Representatives to commence proper
impeachment investigations against President George W. Bush, Vice
President Richard Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld,
and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to the end that they may be
impeached and removed from office.
Implementation: The Coalition will work with
state legislators to
encourage the drafting of such a resolution similar to those drafted
by other states or work with legislators on the drafting of a joint
letter from legislators of both houses.
